It's hard to tell whether the mancunian Karl Pilkington is a genius or an idiot, what I do know is he is hilarious.
Karl shot to cult fame after working for comedians Ricky Gervais & Steven Merchant as their XFM radio producer. Ricky took a liking to Pilkington due to his perfectly round head & through injecting random comments and opinions into the show Karl nabbed himself a permanent on-air role. His strange outlook on the world and darn right idiotic anecdotes made Karl the focal point and the star of the show.
It wasn't long before the trio produced a download only podcast titled "The Ricky Gervais Show" giving Karl an international audience & gaining world record status as the most downloaded podcast ever. The show became more & more focused on Karl's ramblings that even Gervais himself suggested it should be "The Karl Pilkington Show". After three series and various specials, The Ricky Gervais Show has been put on hold, but not indefinitely, after all what would Karl have to do otherwise.
Karl has since branched out into what seems a plethora of unexpected professions including authoring two books, filming a number of documentaries & some may even go as far as branding him a philosopher.
Karl has an opinion on everything and anything such as old people and the fact that you never see them eating a Twix bar, he also believes old people don't need money because they just potter about and would only spend it on ornaments which are fading out anyway.
He believes Chinese people age badly, gay people go out too late & Noah did us all an injustice by saving too many animals.
He would like to see "A stitch in time saves nine" sound more like "You don't have to do it straight away, but do it before it gets really bad". Not quite as poetic but I think, still good.
I encourage anybody who hasn't heard the podcasts to do so, and discover for yourself that Karl really is a living legend.
